Last week, Google announced that it will be rolling out AI Overview (AIO), which is it’s Artificial Intelligence search experience, to everyone in the U.S.

“turn off google ai” Trending in the U.S According to Google Trends.

All jokes aside. 🤣

AIO is here to stay. This is a new era of Google Search where we are shifting from:
– Searching to prompting
– Generic search experiences to more personalized ones

Google says AIO will help searchers:
– Learning things fasters with quick answers from AIO at the top of the results
– Get recommendations on things that are important to the search
– Search with video and customize the search results

Here is how it will impact brands and what to do about it. 🥋
1. Keyword rankings and traffic:
Rankings will fluctuate and may decline. This could also mean revenue for many brands. This has already been happening. We have seen that Google is keeping & absorbing more traffic because of widgets, searches with in searches, and traffic going to partners like reddit.

2. Importance of SEO: SEO is going to be more important than ever. You have to implement the things you may have been putting off. Things like schema code, a consistently publishing articles, UX focused on conversions, improving
page speed and others. These things can’t be ignored.

3. Conversions:
You have to push your SEO and web teams to focus on conversions. Brands must build their own “Walled Gardens”. Conversion Rate Optimization is high value skill all SEO professionals should know. 🎓 Watch the video to the end and I’ll show you the best way to increase conversions from your blog and website.

4. Integration:
You have to integrate search with a focus on conversions. This is ensuring Google Ads is working hand in hand with SEO & Content plans.
Then that should be integrated with your Lifecycle teams. All of this should also roll up to the larger campaigns you are running like, TV, Radio, Out of Home etc.

Changes on Google are nothing new. What brands need to use SEO to fully optimize their assets. Then Integrating their campaigns across all channels and aim to convert all traffic to a free lead or paid customer. Then build community.

This way you are never stuck relying on a single channel or company to grow your business. 💡
